Summer's Dracula Movie is Based on a Chapter from the Novel

Credit: Pixabay I haven't gotten together a list of the summer's sci-fi and fantasy movies coming out in theatres yet, but so far it looks like there’s going to be some good ones. The ones that I want to see for sure are “Asteroid City” (which releases next week), “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” and "Last Voyage of the Demeter". This last one is actually based on a single chapter from Bram Stoker's novel, “Dracula”. It's a Universal film releasing in theatres August 11, less than four months later than Universal's other Dracula film, "Renfield" (which came out April 14). However, it's not a sequel. If anything, it’s the opposite--a prequel. However, that may only be a matter of opinion. Judging by the trailer I watched, this movie seems like it will be a lot different than “Renfield” in many ways.  The trailer to "Last Voyage of the Demeter" makes the movie look much more promising than "Renfield" . IWSG: Writing and Illustrating; BIP, or Book-In-Progress

It's the first Wednesday of the month and so it’s time for another Insecure Writer’s Support Group (IWSG) post! In an IWSG post, we writers bring our writing challenges and problems out into the open to share with each other and try to offer solutions. I've been making a little more progress on my upcoming book of short fiction, "Bad Apps", in which I'll tell you how to find out more about that progress in a little bit. But first I'll answer the blog hop's optional question of the month. IWSG Optional Question The optional IWSG question for June is: If you ever did stop writing, what would you replace it with? I almost can't imagine myself not writing. If I didn't write I would probably go mad. But maybe not too mad, because if I did stop writing for some reason, I would probably replace it with illustrating. Illustration doesn't have to necessarily be for stories but within itself, like much of fine art, can tell stories as well as be used

70th Anniversary of 1950s Sci-Fi Film Written by Ray Bradbury

Well, the summer is at hand, and that means a season of movies coming out in the nice cool air-conditioned theatres but also on the internet and in stores too. I'm not really into direct-to-video movies like I'm not on made-for-TV ones, but there are exceptions. One exception, or what at least seems to be so far, is an upcoming remake of a science fiction classic. I'll talk about that in a bit. First, I want to pay tribute to another classic science fiction film that’s anniversary is today. This day 70 years ago must've been a really exciting one for movie audiences. That's when the sci fi flick, "It Came from Outer Space", released in US theatres and was one of the first movies to be featured in 3D. Also, the script was originally written by science fiction/fantasy author Ray Bradbury! I also have a little of the latest on my upcoming book of short fiction, "Bad Apps"!  70th Anniversary of 'It Came from Outer Space' The promotion poster
