Mini Movie Review, Horror Book Cover Art & Pride Horror Reading

Credit: Pixabay In past posts, I've talked about the differences between contemporary book cover art and vintage book cover art, but mostly in terms of how the former is digitally produced and the latter freehand-produced. Filmmaker Zane Whitener talks about the differences in terms of the effectiveness the two communicate the genre, particularly the horror genre, in his documentary that I review below. Along with the subject of book cover art, I also have the latest progress on the art for the book cover to "The Trespassers", my short sci fi horror book that is scheduled to release in the next couple of weeks.  Mini Movie Review: 'Horror Books Have Lost Their Identity' Most of the movies I review here at the Far Out Fantastic Site are speculative fiction films, including science fiction and horror. This, time however, I'm reviewing a movie about horror fiction. It's called " Horror Books Have Lost Their Identity ", directed and narrated by Zane

'Trespassers' Release May Be Delayed Due to Merging Platforms

Credit: Pixabay At the beginning of the month, I had said that “The Trespassers” would release in roughly two to three weeks . Well, I did mean roughly . It’s going to be a little longer than three weeks before it releases. The reason relates to the fairly recent merging of Smashwords, where I’ve published my ebooks in the past, with Draft To Digital (D2D). When that happened, the two companies decided to combine their self-publishing service tools. So, in order to release my book in wider distribution and so beyond Amazon, I'll have to learn D2D's self-publishing tools which will take me a while longer than if the merge hadn’t occurred. But don’t worry! There’s also good news! The good news is that D2D claims to offer more flexible, easier and a better variety of tools. That means a faster turn-around time for releasing future books like " Bad Apps ", my upcoming short story collection. Not only that, but unlike Smashwords had before the merge, it offers self-publish

IWSG: Better Sleep, Better Writing; Book Progress

It's the first Wednesday of the month and so it’s time for another Insecure Writer’s Support Group (IWSG) blog hop! In an IWSG post, we writers bring our writing challenges and problems out into the open to share with each other and try to offer solutions. Well, it’s June and so summer here in the US is almost upon us! I ended last month good with my writing and am trying to start off this month and the upcoming summer with at least just as good of, but preferably better, writing!  For most of May, I had been getting no more than an hour of fiction writing into my Fridays which is the day of the week I regularly have off from my day job. Other writing related tasks such as the promoting of my books, working with technical tasks on my blog and inserting affiliate ads on it had put me behind in my fiction work. In addition to that, lack of sleep during the week put me back. Not last week, though.  Last week, I started going to bed earlier. It was that Friday when I felt the differen

Upcoming Short Book Almost Had a Missing Copyright Page

Credit: Pixabay That second current book that I'm working on that I mentioned in the previous previous post  almost had its copyright page missing. This is a one-short story book that will be releasing before my next full book, "Bad Apps", releases. It's called "The Trespassers", a science fiction horror story.  I don’t have a precise date for “Bad Apps” since I’ve run late on it several times already, but I’m shooting for late autumn or early winter of this year. “The Trespassers”, on the other hand, will be releasing way before that though, roughly within the next three weeks.  I had sent the manuscript for “The Trespassers” to the book formatter earlier last week when I realized that I didn't include a copyright page. So, I told him to hold off on the formatting so I could gather the copyright page’s information, such as the date of publication and the character resemblance disclaimer, and then I would provide him with it. I put the information togeth
