I have to make an apology: there will not be a Book-To-Movie this month. I had intended to have one here this evening but this past week was a difficult one. Among other things, the internet in my area went out on Thursday when I was going to view the film on Amazon Prime. It was out the entire day. At first, I thought it was my own connection that got cut off but then I saw in the news that it was the service to my whole area. A major cable broke due to road construction going on at the time. By the time the internet came back on it was late and I did not have time to watch the movie and write a review the next day. That next day was also bad for me because I woke up with a bad headache that lasted into the evening. However, I’ll have a Book-To-Movie for you hear in October for sure. Since there’s going to be a lapse, I’ll try to get the review back on its original third Saturday schedule instead of the fourth Saturday like we’ve been doing since the spring. I did say last post, however, that I would try to have a cover reveal for you here this week and so I do. Well, I have the illustration to the cover, at least. It’s for my short story collection, “The Fool’s Illusion”, which turned 7-years old this month!

I only had to request one revision for the illustration. The revision consisted of adding blood to the chainsaw blade and making the Fool’s (jester’s) wand stand out more. And the artist, Alex, at Fiverr did an awesome job of making those improvements as well as making the illustration overall. She did a really good job with the blood-red tone giving it a kind of black-lighting effect which I totally like since the original illustration I did was trying to achieve a ‘70s dark psychedelic effect. So, I’d like to, once again, thank the artist, Alex, for her good work!
Patreon Page
My Patreon page is almost done. It’s actually done now. But, before I can launch it, I have to get some benefits ready for the first month of the page’s release. There are three tiers, or, what I call, “Portals” of membership, each one increasing in the number and/or quality of benefits. As soon as I have some benefits ready for the first month, I’ll launch the page and definitely let you.
Next time, I’ll have more Patreon page updates, hopefully the announcement of the page’s launch! I’ll also try to have a full cover reveal of “The Fool’s Illusion” and so a front cover with both illustration and lettering. So, what do you think of “The Fool’s Illusion”’s new book cover illustration? Do you like it better than the old one? And don’t be afraid of offending me: it’s your right to give your opinion and impressions and my right to know how my work (FI’s original cover) and the artist-for-hire’s work (the new cover) need to make improvements. I just ask that you give your opinion in a well-mannered way. Thanks.
Until next time . . .
Cover looks really wicked.
ReplyDeleteSorry you didn't get to see the film.
It's for a book of dark fiction, much of what consists of horror stories.
