Well finally the air here in my state has been clearing up from the smoke from the wildfires. We can at least breathe a little better. I’ll miss those blood red sunsets though! But we have to sacrifice for the greater good of everybody, as they say. I’ve also been making progress on my literary projects. I’ve been revising my Patreon page; I just today hired an illustrator for the new cover to “The Fool’s Illusion”; and I completed another revision of my interdimensional-time travel short story that’s been a real pain to write this past year.
The Portals In My Page On Patreon©
I retitled the tiers on my Patreon page as well as revised the membership price on one. I had titled the tiers “Door Patrons” as in “Door 1 Patron”, “Door 2 Patron”, and so on. However, I didn’t like the word “Door” in the titles because it sounded too much like something from a gameshow to me which is not what my Patreon page is going to be. My Patreon page is going to be a place where you can join a community of genre fiction and pop culture supporters and get access to things like early announcements of book discounts, swag, and early access to new fiction by yours truly. So, I changed the “Door” in each tier title to “Portal”. I did this for two reasons: 1) it alliterates better with “patron”, as in “Portal 1 Patron”; 2) it’s a more sci fi-sounding title such as “interdimensional-time portal” while yet a portal can be almost any kind of doorway on or off Earth and so the word can work for horror and other types of fantasy as well.

‘Fool’s Illusion’ Book Cover Illustration
I finally hired an illustrator today to make a photographic version of the image to “The Fool’s Illusion” book cover. I’ve been a little behind on this because my earlier choice of an illustrator seemed to disappear on me right after I sent him an attachment with the image of “Fool’s Illusion”’s current cover. Okay, I’m no Boris Vallejo (far from it) but I didn’t think my artwork was that bad! The illustration will take four to five days to deliver so hopefully I’ll receive it by Friday so I can have a cover reveal here for you a next weekend.
My Short Story In-Progress
I just read through my latest revised version of my interdimensional/time travel/parallel universe (pant, pant) short story which I am thinking about titling “The Watch Party”. I had mainly been revising it these past two weeks to work out the story comprehension by putting it in chronological order regardless that it is told through first person narration. And because I’ve done that, it reads a lot more smoothly and comprehensively. I just have to fill in the other holes, such as problems with dialogue and character. But now that I can understand more what the hell I’m trying to write, I can work on those problems much more easily.
One of the tier or “Portal” benefits on my Patreon page is going to be early access to my fiction stories before they get published anywhere else. So, if you join my Patreon page when it launches around the end of the month you may just be able to read “The Watch Party” for free!
Well, that’s all I have today. Tune in next week for a possible cover reveal and another Book-To- Movie review on our “new normal” schedule. What are you working on? Are you making any progress with it?
Until next time . . .
I think using the word portal is a great idea. It has a science fiction feel to it.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to the cover next week!
Well, I hope to have it out by then, at least the new illustration if not the full cover.
