I apologise for posting so late. I was busy all weekend putting together the Halloween edition of "Night Creatures' Call", my free author's newsletter. If you're not subscribed to it, then you can do so here. In the newsletter, I talk about writing project details that normally are not discussed here. I also offer discounts on books that you'll often be the first to know about like the case has been with the latest edition of the newsletter with my current subscribers. Speaking about discounts, I was busy putting together those as well. Afterall, it's my Halloween treat to you! So, be sure to check that out below. But first, some highlights of a zombie fest that I attended over the weekend.
Davis Zombie Bike Parade
This past Sunday, I attended the Zombie Bike Parade in Davis California, home to UC Davis. In its sixth year, one of the event's hosts was the Independent Order of Odd Fellows of Davis, a lodge chapter. Although I didn't make it in time for the parade itself, I saw some really neat stuff at the booths located at the parade's starting/ending point. There was a bat booth where some really nice bat conservationists exhibited their live bats. They even had a genuine bat skeleton on display. A DJ played electronica from inside of an giant octopus, an inflatable one that is.
Then there was the Yolo County Library Davis Branch's booth run by three really friendly zombies (library reps in costume and makeup). At that booth they had a wheel of "misfortune", as I call it. However, it really was one of fortune. That is, it was one of the fortune of literacy! (No, there was no corpse or skeleton hanging from it, as much as that would've enhanced the living dead theme.) When I tried spinning the wheel, I struggled to pull down on an appendage to the frame that held the wheel, until one of the two bloody (literally, well, as far as fake blood goes) stopped me and said that I have to do it from the pegs. Dang, I hadn't realized that it had been that long since I've spun one of those things! Did I feel dumb! The prize it landed on was a book mark with a psychedelic design print that you can colour in. I don't do colouring books or sheets, but I can always use book marks!
There was also a zombie sky dive show, but, unfortunately, I wasn't able to stay for it . Here are some pictures of the fest:

What Halloween events have you attended or will be attending this year?
Everybody have a safe, scary and Happy Halloween!
The inflatable octopus is wild. Too bad you missed the parade.
ReplyDeleteI think the parade itself is a little too early in the day for me due to how late of a start I usually get on a Sunday. Lol But the other events there are good enough for me.
