Full ‘Fool’s’ Cover Reveal; Patreon Portal Progress

Last post I had a cover reveal for the illustration itself. In this week’s post I have what I call a full cover reveal and so a cover that includes both illustration and lettering! Again, this is a new cover for my speculative fiction short story collection, “The Fool’s Illusion”, which turned 7 years old last month! (No new internal content at this time. Sorry. Maybe on the book’s tenth birthday in 2023.) And my Patreon page is getting closer to launch! I made a schedule of Patreon benefits for the month of October!

Synopsis: Here is a collection of dark fantastic events and terrifying scientific phenomena. It contains stories of deadly creatures, including vampires and other undead things, and adventures into the unknown and terrible--tales that brew to the bursting point. This book will not fail to fool you with its terrifying visions of events that could be and ones that are impossible to be yet make a reader contemplate, "What if they weren't?"

The book’s new cover will go active on Amazon (and eventually other outlets) in about a week or two, depending on how long it takes Amazon to put it up in the store and whether it will need changes or not. That’s right! This is not necessarily the final version. And so I’m giving you a chance to give your opinion of what you think of this cover. Let me know in the box below! Patron Portal Progress: Benefits

The other day, I put together an October schedule of benefits for my Patreon page’s membership “Portals” (or tiers). Beginning next week, there will be a new benefit each of the remaining weeks for the month of October. However, he there will be a delay in the book discount benefit. In order to give the discount I have go through Smashwords. I am no longer in Amazon’s Kindle Select program which is required to discount books on Amazon. I had to leave the program in order to distribute my books through Smashwords and its partner sites so I can give better discounts through that venue. So, this week I will be working to get my books uploaded to Smashwords.

Until the books are uploaded there and distributed to the platform’s partner companies, there will be plenty of other benefits at my Patreon page. Of these benefits are ad-free blog posts (so you can avoid those annoying banners and pop-ups that you get here), voting power that will enable you to vote for decisions on my projects such as books and art, a behind-the-scenes look at my book “The Boo Brothers”, and a “Fool’s Illusion” Halloween sticker! Book-To-Movie: Stephen King’s 'The Raft'

Credit: Pixabay.com It's the third Saturday of the month and so that means it's time for another Book-To-Movie ! In a Book-To-Movie we review a book and its movie adaptation. One of the reasons I as a horror fan don’t read a lot of Stephen King’s work is because most of it consists of novels that go more than 400 pages. I have a short attention span when it comes to reading, ironically since I consider myself an avid reader, and so I normally won’t read a work that is much more than the equivalent to a 350-page mass market paperback. The other reason why I don’t read a lot of King’s work is that, as literary scholars will tell you, a lot of his writing is poor. However, he does have some good writing in his works, especially his earlier stuff, including his short horror tales. So if I read anything by Stephen King it’s usually his short stories or novellas. Book-To-Movie: ‘The Hound of the Baskervilles’

However, I got behind on several things last week and so had to postpone the post to today. I’ve been a reader of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes books ever since I was 11. What I’ve always liked so much about the series is that, like a good horror story, the stories often take place in dark settings and involve bizarre cases. Conan Doyle’s novel, “The Hound of the Baskervilles”, definitely contains these elements. It’s a detective story that crosses over into the gothic horror genre. Several movie adaptations of the novel have been made that go as far back as a 1915 German silent film. In 1959 Hammer Studios released a version starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. As much as I’m a fan of the Hammer horror films, I have not seen that one yet. The only one that I’ve seen so far is the 1939 adaptation starring that other big name in classic...

Return to Fiction Writing; Graphic Novel Based on Lost Horror Film

I posted for the IWSG blog hop that Wednesday and it didn't make up for that Monday's missed post since I said I had to keep it short. I had to reduce the writing during that week because, as I also said in that IWSG post, my mom passed away back in October and so that was the week of her funeral. I just got back on track earlier last week (Wednesday I think it was) and so that included returning to working on my fiction projects, namely my upcoming short story collection, "Bad Apps".
